For nurse Jean Haimes it’s because she’s seen first-hand the life-changing impact of equipment and services funded by Wishlist.
The Nambour Hospital Nurse Manager has worked for Sunshine Coast Health for nearly 50 years and for the last 27 years Jean’s seen the difference Wishlist has made in her workplace.
Two years ago Jean signed up as a Wishlist GEM, giving each month to Wishlist for areas of greatest need helping to fund vital equipment, programs and services.
Jean has also connected many patients’ families with Wishlist to stay at Wishlist’s affordable accommodation facility, Reed House.
Conveniently located next to Nambour General Hospital, Reed House provides a home away from home while loved ones are being treated.
“I just know how good Wishlist are and how they help the patients and our staff and the community in Nambour,” Jean said.
“If you can afford it even $5 or $10 a pay, it just comes out of your pay, you don’t really notice it.
“I just feel I’m helping our own community and I know the money is going to the people who need it.”
