Thank you Sunshine Coast and Gympie your support of last Friday’s (4 September) Wishlist Spring Carnival has delivered a big win for women’s health.
With more than $415,000 raised on the day Wishlist can now order lifechanging and lifesaving equipment.
This will help diagnose and treat women with breast cancer and endometriosis – as well as deliver other high needs items on the Wishlist – as identified by medical staff and patients.
Wishlist CEO Brendan Hogan said the 17th Wishlist Spring Carnival has achieved its aim to deliver vital medical equipment and make health care for local women even better and close to home.
“The people of the Sunshine Coast and Gympie have shown once again they are the most generous people in the country – thank you so much,” Brendan said.

“Wishlist is the Sunshine Coast and Gympie’s local hospital charity and proceeds from the Wishlist Spring Carnival go towards improving our five public hospitals.
Top of the list is the Sentimag surgical guidance system, shared between Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) and Gympie Hospital, which will use magnetic fields to locate tumours and lymph nodes.
Clinical Director Surgery and Critical Care for Sunshine Coast Health, Dr. Emilia Dauway said the surgical tool will be a gamechanger for patients.
“This new technology is going to transform the breast cancer journey for our patients at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, and Gympie Hospital,” Dr Dauway said.
“This new Sentimag will allow our surgeons, with precision, to remove less breast tissue, preserving the breast.”
The funds raised by Wishlist Spring Carnival will also support the purchase of Myosure and hysteroscope equipment to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis — enabling minimally invasive procedures with shorter surgical times, fewer complications, and faster recovery for local women.
Wishlist Spring Carnival Chair Dan Sowden said the event continues to grow to match the increase in health needs across the region.
“From the very beginning,” Dan said, “Wishlist was built on one simple but powerful question, asked of our medical teams: “How can we help, and what do you need?”
“And while the needs of our health workers will continue to grow, so too must our efforts. Wishlist Spring Carnival has no finish line.”
