92.7 MIX FM Give Me 5 set to return

26 May 2025

The Sunshine Coast community is gearing up for another year of heartfelt generosity and life-changing impact as we welcome the return of 92.7 MIX FM’s Give Me 5 (GM5) campaign.

Launching on Friday, May 30, this beloved annual fundraising appeal has enabled Wishlist to make a significant difference in the lives of patients and their families.

92.7 MIX FM’s GM5 commenced in 2000, and since then over $7.7 million has been raised and distributed to help local Sunshine Coast and Gympie families dealing with health trauma.

Wishlist warmly greeted the new team at 92.7 MIX FM and are thrilled to continue this incredible partnership.

Last year’s campaign was a testament to the power of community spirit, funding life-saving equipment and impactful programs that have truly changed lives.

One of the standout contributions was the MRI Compatible Ventilator, a piece of cutting-edge technology valued at $85,000, now available at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital’s Neonatal Unit.

Thanks to 92.7 MIX FM, the Sunshine Coast community, Sunshine Coast Turf Club raffle, Aitken Legal Golf Day, and the Queensland Gambling Community Fund, the ventilator ensures that vulnerable babies can now receive safer, faster care closer to home.

Health staff are very appreciative of the new equipment, as SCUH Director of Neonatology Lizelle Weber says, “Before we had this piece of equipment we had to send critically unwell babies to Brisbane, which is costly and comes with a risk to the babies health.”

“The equipment helps us to quantify the injury to the brain tissue which helps us to decide what treatment is required.”

GM5 also championed innovations in holistic family care, such as the launch of the Dads Group - a groundbreaking initiative offering tailored perinatal mental health support for fathers.

Funded in its first year through GM5, this program aims to provide improved support for fathers from pregnancy through parenthood, foster active involvement, create peer support opportunities, strengthen family units, and offer digital resources for isolated dads.

Sunshine Coast University Hospital Nurse Unit Manager of Child, Youth and Family Health Services Caro Watts believes the program will strengthen the role of fathers throughout their partner’s pregnancy, ensuring dads are actively involved and supported.

“This program is essential for integrating fathers into maternity care. Their role has been overlooked by society for too long,” Ms Watts says.

And it doesn’t stop there - thanks to GM5 supporters, Wishlist has also funded programs like the Chronic Illness Peer Support Program (ChIPS), which fosters personal growth and social connection for young people managing long-term illness.

GM5 funded initiatives like the Calm Fairy, Clown Doctors, and Therapy Dog Program have brought comfort, laughter, and joy to children navigating challenging health journeys.

This year, our wish list extends to further investments in paediatric and young adult care while ensuring the continuation of these vital, heartfelt programs that make a meaningful difference.

With your support, we can make this GM5 campaign our most impactful yet, bringing hope and healing to local families when they need it most.

Mark your calendars and be a part of this festival of fundraising.
