Slab pour milestone achieved

07 Feb 2024

Wishlist House Gympie has commenced construction with the slab being poured this week.

The charity home on Serenity Drive, Southside, will be sold this year to raise vital funds to support Gympie Hospital patients and families.

AUSMAR Director Tony Bryan said he was thrilled to announce the official commencement of Wishlist House Gympie and thanked the businesses and tradespeople who were involved in this week's slab pour.

“The entire AUSMAR team and I are incredibly proud of this milestone, and it wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of our local trades and suppliers,” Mr Bryan said.

“In light of the recent challenges encountered by the building industry, our commitment to making a positive impact for locals is stronger than ever.”

Thanks to the support of Darren and Sharon Boyle - the site has been cut, the under-slab plumbing completed by Superior Plumbing with thanks to Reece Plumbing, hirage from JC Hire, set-out by Axis Surveys, electrical by CV Services, waffle pods and reinforcing steel donated by Neumann Steel, earth moving machines by Bebrok Excavations, crusher dust from Bulk Granite Haulage and termite-proofing by All Pest QLD, and the slab prepped and poured by Gympie local Scott Grogan Concreting and Classic Concrete Pumping.

Wishlist House Gympie

Wishlist and AUSMAR are now looking for carpenters and painters for next stages of the build.

Wishlist CEO Lisa Rowe said the four-bedroom low-set home will be the fourth house Alliance Partners and award-winning builders AUSMAR has built for Wishlist – but a first for a Gympie.

“This house will be sold and to get it to that point we are leaning on the generous Gympie community, and of course AUSMAR, to create a home that will be extra special,” Ms Rowe said.

“Proceeds from the sale of Wishlist House Gympie will fund priority needs at Gympie Hospital and Wishlist’s supported accommodation.

“Three out of four guests who stay in our accommodation facilities are from the Gympie and surrounding area who need to be close to one of our hospitals for ongoing cancer treatment, complicated pregnancies, surgery or urgent procedures, chronic pain and other needs.”

One Agency Gympie Principal and Wishlist Board Member Keryn Angle was a key part in the land being donated to Wishlist for Wishlist House Gympie.

“I’m excited to be involved in this project because I have a young family here in Gympie and I know the importance of having access to the best public healthcare,” she said.

“We are keen to hear from local tradies and suppliers who would like to lend a hand with this legacy project. We are particularly needing the expertise of carpenters, tilers, cabinet markers, painters, and landscapers.”
