How your dollar makes a difference

23 Sep 2024
At Wishlist, we continue to work towards providing vital healthcare resources for our local community, thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters.

In recent months, your donations have made a significant impact, allowing us to purchase essential equipment that enhances the care and comfort of patients across multiple departments.

Here's how your contributions have made a difference:

Expanding access to Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD): With your support, we’ve extended local access to Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) services by purchasing a $10,000 Vscan Air ultrasound machine. For many VAD patients, difficult venous access due to prior treatments or reduced intake makes cannula insertion challenging and often requires a hospital visit. This new device allows healthcare professionals to precisely guide cannulation through ultrasound, providing patients with a more comfortable, peaceful experience without needing to visit the hospital. Your generosity has brought this compassionate service closer to home, offering dignity and comfort during difficult times.

Bringing comfort to children in Emergency Departments: Thanks to donations from 92.7 Mix FM’s Give Me 5 campaign, we’ve been able to purchase almost $2,000 worth of play equipment for children awaiting treatment at the Emergency Departments of Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Nambour Hospital. Hospitals can be stressful for young patients, and this new equipment helps provide much-needed comfort and distraction during their wait for care. Your contributions have made a real difference in making the hospital experience less overwhelming for children and their families.

Boosting Dementia Care at Nambour Hospital:
Wishlist has also purchased $3,000 worth of essential resources for the Cognitive Assessment and Management Unit at Nambour Hospital, helping to improve care for patients living with dementia. These new tools allow staff to better assess and manage cognitive health, providing more personalized and effective treatment. With your support, patients facing the challenges of dementia are receiving higher-quality care, improving their quality of life during their stay.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these important initiatives.

Your generosity is directly impacting the lives of patients in our community, ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve.
