Wishlist has released its 2022-23 Annual Report, showcasing significant milestones and contributions in support of the Sunshine Coast region.
One of the most signifcant highlights include the opening of Australian-first facility - Wishlist Centre - a $14 million investment for patient accommodation opposite the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
Plus $1.36 million directed to medical equipment, therapy services, short term project positions and research projects.
Minister for Health, Mental Health, and Ambulance Services Shannon Fentiman says the report demonstrates the significant contribution that hospital foundations across Queensland do to help deliver high-quality healthcare to their local communities.
“The success of the foundation would not be made possible without the extraordinary team of more than 150 volunteers who contribute approximately 16,000 hours of service each year to support, improve and promote public healthcare," Minister Fentiman explains.
"I would like to thank them for their tireless efforts, which in 2022/23 led to 11,995 nights of affordable or free accommodation in the past year to patients travelling for treatment at SCUH or Nambour Hospital.”

This $14 million investment allows Wishlist to house patients and their families in one of their 44 available rooms.
Thanks to a generous community, we also invested more than $1.36 million to acquire essential equipment, practical support, and professional development for Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service staff.
Other incredible initiatives funded by Wishlist include $664,000 for innovative patient support services including the renowned local Clown Doctor service, pet therapy and music therapy services, as well as mental health consumer advisory groups, to help fortify the healing journey for countless patients.
We have also pledged an additional $244,000 to fund the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service's first dedicated Domestic and Family Violence Social Worker for up to three years.
