We're hiring - Onsite Accommodation Coordinator (Caretaker)

Wishlist is searching for an after-hours full-time Accommodation Coordinator (Caretaker) to support our accommodation facilities at Birtinya and Nambour.

A key aspect of Wishlist operations is the provision of low-cost accommodation to support patients and their families requiring the services of a Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) Hospital.  Our accommodation facilities Reed House at Nambour, Wishlist House and soon-to-open Wishlist Centre at Birtinya provide accommodation for patients and carers.

Accommodation is available for a wide range of guests, who often travel from rural or remote areas of Queensland to undertake clinical treatment such as chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.

Our facilities also provide emergency accommodation for families needing to be close to critically ill family members, and for patients and their families who may require urgent access to an Emergency Department following a surgical procedure or outpatient support.

Please note, this position is similar to a Caretaker role, the successful candidate will have a one-bedroom onsite unit at Reed House and utilities included.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Accommodation Coordinator is responsible for: 

  • Ensuring the smooth operation of all Wishlist Accommodation Property, including the safety and wellbeing of staff, guests, volunteers, visitors, contractors, commercial tenants and external users of the facilities during after-hours business hours. 
  • Providing a high level of customer service to all guests. 
  • Manage out of business hours telephone reservations ensuring guests are allocated a room at the facility most appropriate for their needs. 
  • Welcome guests, checking reservation details and providing guests with information about the facility. 
  • Ensuring buildings are safe and secure by performing a routine nightly walk around the facility. 
  • Ensuring night/noise curfew is enforced. 
  • Act as the primary contact for Wishlist Centre commercial tenants during after hours, ensuring their space is managed and maintained to the standards agreed in contractual arrangements. 
  • Oversee repairs and maintenance of Wishlist Accommodation Property, ensuring timely response and feedback on identified and reported issues, during the after-hours period. 
  • Cleaning amenities?and common areas as required during the after-hours period. 
  • Assist with guest requests and maintenance issues.? 
  • Carry out routine inspections to ensure safety of all guests. 
  • Liaise with Wishlist management, team members and volunteers as necessary. 
  • Work with Wishlist volunteers to ensure reliable handover from the after-hours period to the day period. 
  • Meet with the Accommodation Coordinator regularly for debriefing, discussion, guidance and support. 
  • Engage in education and upskilling opportunities as they arise including the use of the Room Management System (RMS). 
  • Maintain mandatory training requirements such as annual fire training at each property, Work Health and Safety etc. 

Skills and Experience

  • Well-developed communication, negotiation, interpersonal and customer service skills. 
  • The ability to remain diplomatic and pleasant, demonstrating conflict resolution and problem solving skills to the team even under pressure. 
  • Flexibility and adaptability with strong organisational skills. 
  • Experience in aged care, tourism, real estate, or permanent resident facility management preferred, but not essential. 
  • A demonstrated self-starter, enthusiastic to drive results, and capable of working to operational requirements. 
  • Be able to appropriately problem solve and identify solutions to maintenance issues. 
  • Commitment to completing all tasks to the highest standard.

Qualifications

  • Previous onsite accommodation management experience is highly recommended. 
  • Previous volunteer experience is desirable.

  • COVID vaccination 
  • Criminal History Check 
  • Valid Blue Card (working with children) 
  • Flexible working providing presence on site from 5pm to 7.30am 7 nights a week and 24 hour availability on weekends.
