WATCH: Wishlist CEO Lisa Rowe's December wrap up

21 Dec 2021

It’s Christmas – the season of giving and we’ve recently delivered some pretty exciting gifts to local hospitals – thanks to you – all aimed at making the local hospital experience better for you and your family.

So much equipment has arrived lately for services from paediatrics to palliative care - from Caloundra to Gympie Hospital, from smileyscopes for distressed kids to glidescopes to make the likes of a colonoscopy more efficient and less stressful for our elderly.

As the local hospital foundation we’ve always tried to stay relevant to the changing face of our Coast communities and our hospitals and we know there’s a lot of people out there doing it tough.  Mentally and emotionally.

So we’ve just committed $120,000 to a mental health and wellbeing programme to be rolled out next year – offering much needed support to our health staff across all local hospitals.

Next year will also see 16 school-based health nurses trained up on the prevention of violence in the home and mental health awareness across 19 local high schools.

And Wishlist Centre for which we recently received a whopping $2million donation from Roy and Nola Thompson – promises affordable hospital accommodation, and physical and psychological services for cancer patients, consumers of mental health services and indeed, all areas of SCUH and the SCUPH.

If you’ve donated a virtual brick your name will be forever acknowledged in our Centre – and if you’ve donated a cent to Wishlist this year, or contributed to the mountains of knitted goods and craft items received daily across our hospitals, volunteered at a Wishlist Coffee House, Reed or Wishlist House or in the office, attended a Wishlist fundraising event, been part of the magic of Mix FM’s Give Me 5 we THANK YOU.

May you all be with loved ones this Christmas and experience the joy of togetherness we’ve longed for all year.

From all of us at Wishlist, Merry Christmas and a safe, happy and healthy 2022
