Local couple inspired by builder's community spirit

Choosing a home builder can often be overwhelming and complex, with countless options and decisions at every turn.

It wasn’t until Coolum couple Steven and Karen Sullivan started to volunteer for local hospital charity Wishlist that their path to a home builder became clear.

“When we moved from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast we were looking at a number of builders and spent months and months researching,” Mr Sullivan said.

"There are so many options out there and it actually got overwhelming.

“However, when we started volunteering for Wishlist at one of their patient accommodation facilities, we started to learn about local builder AUSMAR who built Wishlist House.

“We thought, why not build with a builder who gives back to the community we live in?

“For us, it was AUSMAR’s involvement with Wishlist which set the wheels in the motion for our new home.”

The grandparents-of-five moved into their home late last year and were thrilled to host their family for Christmas.

AUSMAR is led by a team passionate about craftsmanship and community engagement.

Director Tony Bryan has been involved in numerous charitable projects, and will this year build a fourth house for Wishlist – Wishlist House Gympie – which will be sold to raise vital funds to support Gympie Hospital patients and families.

The Sullivans’ choice to collaborate with AUSMAR reflects a growing trend where homeowners are not only seeking a reliable builder but also supporting businesses with a strong sense of social responsibility.

According to the latest Conscious Consumer Report, Australian consumers are more likely to buy from businesses that support charity.

Over three quarters of Australian consumers believe corporates should partner with charities to solve social problems, and over half of consumers said they would switch brands to those which support a charity.
