K's 4 Cancer a record-breaker

16 Oct 2023

In a resounding display of community solidarity, Wishlist's K's 4 Cancer event at Lake Kawana on Sunday saw a record-number of entrants and funds raised.

Now in its fifth year, the 2023 event attracted an impressive turnout of over 760 participants.

Fundraising and Partnerships Manager Lisa Wilson said the event exceeded expectations, both in terms of attendance and financial support.

Against the backdrop of the picturesque lake, runners clad in vibrant colours and costumes embarked on a determined journey to complete the 10km, 5km or 2.5km dash - each step symbolising a collective effort to support local cancer patients.

"Families, friends, colleagues and even pets joined in to create a fun atmosphere," Ms Wilson said.

"The majority of entrants raised funds during the days and weeks before K's 4 Cancer which totalled over $33,000 alone - a very impressive effort."

Volunteers lined the route, while local sponsors and businesses rallied to provide essential support with water stations, snacks, massages for runners and more.

A big thank you to sponsors Advanced Health, supported by QEBS, SRJ Walker Wayland and The Bottle Community.

As well as The Timing Wizards, Cooee Water, 92.7 MIX FM, Sno Worries Shaved Ice, Pet Stock and more.
