Wishlist’s fifth Jazz and Wine Festival has been touted a success after raising over $25,000 for Gympie Hospital patients and families.
The event saw more than 350 people gather at The Pavilion on Sunday, August 7 to enjoy 70s nostalgic band Rufus Jack, powerhouse trio The Kitty Kats, and award-winning wine and gourmet food.
Wishlist Fundraising and Partnerships Manager Lisa Wilson said the vibe was electric in the new and improved location coupled with mild winter temperatures and a tremendous turnout.
“$25,000 raised in one afternoon is sensational. From the entire Wishlist team, we thank you Gympie from the bottom of our hearts for rallying behind your local hospital,” Ms Wilson said.
“We saw some incredible raffle and auction items, and we'd like to give a big thank you to the generous businesses and suppliers who donated to make the day a success, as well as those who bid competitively and purchased tickets.
“We’d love to say a huge thank you to our major sponsor One Agency Gympie, and event partners AJT Legal, SCHUH Group, Jobmatch Employment, Aspect Homes, Heads of Noosa, Civilvic, Bird & Hand Winery, Sunshine & Sons, Karinya Florist & Gifts, McCintocks Transport, McCintocks Fuel, and Power & Cartwright.”

Local businesswoman and passionate health advocate Keryn Angle from One Agency Gympie said she was very proud of the efforts of her community as a whole and wouldn’t hesitate to support the event next year.
“It was extremely fulfilling to be involved in the lead-up to the event as a business and provide that extra support. We couldn’t have been happier with how the day turned out after speaking with a number of festival goers in the general admission and VIP area who had an absolute ball,” Ms Angle said.
The charity was proud to announce an exciting new project coming in 2023 to Gympie – The House Gympie Built – which will be auctioned off with funds going directly to supporting local and rural patients experiencing a health crisis.
The historic project will mark the first of its kind in Gympie and a dream come true with thanks to generous local support.
Not to be outdone, the charity are only months away until their Australian first facility - Wishlist Centre - will open directly across from Sunshine Coast University Hospital, offering affordable accommodation, primary healthcare and complementary therapies under one roof.
“Currently three out of four patients who stay at our accommodation on the Sunshine Coast are from the Gympie region, so as our population skyrockets, the need for this space away from the clinical environment is essential,” Ms Wilson said.
