From health struggles to home

Sam is a shining light who is now back at home in Tin Can Bay after staying with us at Wishlist Centre for 36 days recently.

The mother-of-two exudes positivity and also points out the 'silver lining' despite her health struggles over the past decade.

In 2013, Sam was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis - a chronic disease of the nervous system.

Then, in a heartbreaking twist, she was told by doctors in June this year that she had two tumours in her left breast and cancer in a lymph node.

Having both breasts and several lymph nodes removed, Sam was able to stay at Wishlist Centre for radiation treatment.

"I was undergoing chemo and after my second round I fainted at home and ended up in ICU at Noosa Hospital.

"Everything shut down and they didn't think I'd make it."

After been transferred to the Sunshine Coast Private Hospital and then to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Sam expressed her appreciation for the health heroes at SCUH and Wishlist's affordable accommodation, prompting a generous donation to Wishlist.

During her stay, Sam revelled in visits from Stella the therapy dog and complimentary support services offered to guests of the Centre like massage, facials and reiki.
