Gympie Hospital Equipment

Wishlist is committed to funding vital equipment for Gympie patients and their families. In 2016, Wishlist purchased a BiPAP Non-Invasive Ventilator, worth $36,946.

In 2016, Wishlist directed proceeds from the inaugural Wishlist Jazz and Wine Festival in Gympie to purchase a much-needed piece of equipment for Gympie Hospital's Emergency Department.

The ventilator is used to assist patients who present with breathing difficulties, or are in respiratory distress.

Having this equipment in Gympie means patients can receive more of their treatment in their own community.

Director of Emergency at Gympie Hospital, Dr Jason Lindeman said:  “The BiPAP ventilator can help a very sick patient avoid having to be transferred to Intensive Care to have a tube inserted to help them breathe”.

In August 2016, more than 250 people converged on Gunabul Homestead in Gympie to support the cause with an afternoon of jazz and wine.

The event raised more than $25,000 on the day, and an additional $12,000 was raised through the Zinc 96.1 Family Picnic Race Day and significant donations from Bidvest, Quota, Rotary Club of Gympie and Cooloola, and Gympie South Lions Ladies Auxiliary.

The Wishlist festival is now poised to become a key event on the region's social calendars.

The Wishlist Jazz and Wine Festival was proudly sponsored by Schuh Group, The Gympie Times, Sutton Building Solutions, GJ Gardner Homes and Zinc 96.1.

We thank the generous Gympie community for supporting the purchase of a life-saving piece of equipment.
