A big thank you to the Sunshiners, Nambour Hospital’s volunteer team, who are the friendly faces at the hospital reception helping in any way they can from directing people around the hospital corridors to distributing trauma teddies to the wards.
Our gratitude also extends to the beautiful ladies of various retirement villages on the Coast who volunteer hours of their time to knit, sew and create the loveable trauma teddies for the emergency and children’s wards at the hospital. The cute teddies help make a child's hospital stay just that little bit less traumatic.
We are actively recruiting for volunteers for two big projects happening now:
Wrap up the year with Wishlist! The year has flown by and Christmas is just around the corner. The Wishlist team is getting ready to wrap up another fantastic year of fundraising for Sunshine Coast Health Services with a Christmas Present Wrapping Marathon at Kawana Shoppingworld, and we need your help.
From Thursday the 15th of December until midnight on Christmas Eve, Wishlist volunteers will man a Christmas Gift Wrapping Station in the heart of Kawana Shoppingworld, right next to Santa.
During such a busy shopping season this will be a fantastic fundraising opportunity with all proceeds going to fund vital equipment for the Coast's Public Hospitals. If you have basic gift wrapping skills (or can learn), a friendly smile and great customer service skills then we need you to come help us spread some Christmas cheer.
If you or someone you know would like to help gift wrap and make new friends while giving back to their community, please contact Wishlist ASAP and let us know your availability so we can start scheduling shifts. There will be fun training sessions for all volunteers and a T-shirt for you to wear while on duty.
Thank you! That’s a wrap!
Wishlist House is nearing completion and it has just been anounced that it will go up for auction on January 29, 2012. All proceeds of the charity home (built from donated goods and services) will go towards drastically improving the Sunshine Coast's ophthalmology services, which means local eye patients awaiting treatment and surgery will no longer have to travel to Brisbane or be placed on long waiting lists.
The four weeks prior to auction day will be used to market the home and attract as much attention from buyers and the public as possible. Wishlist is in urgent need of volunteers to help man the open home periods, show interested parties through the home and inform the public on the history and cause of this very special project. Dan Sowden from Ray White Maroochydore will be the auctioneer on the day, and will be holding a training day in collaboration with Wishlist to prepare volunteers.
If you want to be involved in this incredibly collaborative community event, let us know ASAP.
Every donation of $2.00 or more is fully tax deductible!
