Scenario Based Learning Centre

In December 2009, nurse educators on the Coast saw the need for an innovative educational facility which would allow for experiential and scenario-based learning. Wishlist took up the challenge of funding a state-of-the-art $150,000 medical simulation learning centre which opened in late 2010.

The “Commedia Dell’arte” as it is called, is based at Nambour General Hospital and gives health care workers throughout the Sunshine Coast district the chance to improve their teamwork, clinical skills and competencies. Their skills are tested through simulated situations which they will experience on the job in the real world.   

The learning centre is a place where competency-based courses are facilitated with no risk to real patients and where clinicians are challenged to review how they communicate with each other, ensuring that our health professionals are well trained to provide excellence in medical care and clinical errors are minimised.
