Background - The House the Coast Built

In 2003, Wishlist, in collaboration with local builder Emerald Homes coordinated the building of a home know as "The House the Coast Built" from donated goods and services with support from the local community who rallied together donating building products, a swimming pool, smart wiring, a security system, air conditioning, furniture and two Ford vehicles.

The House the Coast Built won the Fundraising Institute of Australia’s award for Fundraising Excellence in 2003 and was a major contributor to the landmark five year campaign which raised $1.7 million to build the Sunshine Coast Cancer Centre at Nambour Hospital, which Wishlist officially opened on the 28th January, 2006.

The House the Coast Built was dubbed the greatest community fundraiser the Sunshine Coast had seen.
