Here is an amazing recent example of how our Wish List works:
Early in 2011, the District Director of paediatrics at Nambour General Hospital applied to Wishlist for $36,000 to fund Diversional Therapy (including music therapy, yoga and play sessions) for patients of the Children’s Ward, as having qualified therapists attend the ward works to reduce anxiety and insomnia for children facing ongoing medical treatment and help the healing process through gentle physical activity.
We placed this funding request on our Wish List, and Woolworths quickly came on board through their Woolworths Children’s Hospital Appeal, giving Wishlist $21,000 to direct to the Children’s Ward at NGH.
We’d also dedicated the $6,500 raised from the PJT Charity Bowls Day 2011 and funds raised from the Rock the District Hospital Staff concert towards the initiative, so along with Woolworths’ contribution had $30,500 towards funding the diversional therapy.
When we wrote to thank Woolies for their generous $21,000 contribution and informed them that with their donation we now had nearly enough to fund the initiative, we immediately got this reply from Michael Muller of Woolworths:
“We can't see the program ‘nearly’ funded, so let's just say our contribution this year will be $26,500, and then along with the other fundraisers you have had, the program should be fully funded.” Needless to say, we are thrilled and so grateful to our local Woolworths stores for their incredible generosity, and happy to anounce the Diversional Therapy has just begun at Nambour Hospital.
Every donation of $2.00 or more is fully tax deductible!
